I always thought OPI Man of La Mancha and La Boheme were amazing on their own but since I’m going to Vegas, I wanted to put something pink over black… so this magic happened!
Man of La Mancha over black!
Tag Archives: black
Zoya – Dahlia
OPI – Black Spotted
I have had Black Spotted for a few years and never tried it, so I finally opened it!
I’ve never posted a pedicure here before, but I had to do this quickly as my little sweetie pie napped… Didn’t have time to do toes and nails!
I started with half neon yellow and half neon pink, then I applied it on top.
The awesome neon colors are from the China Glaze Lite Brites. Whip It Good (yellow) and Lip Smackin’ Good (pink). Love these colors!
The tag on the Black Spotted bottle says to use a very thin layer.
It came out looking pretty cool, but not the round spots that I expected after looking at other swatches online. I will be playing with this one again to figure it out.
When you have a 2 year old, you don’t have a lot of time to re-do your nails! You’re lucky to get to do them in the first place. 🙂
Seche Premier Colour
I have been wanting to try these gel – like polishes, and the girl at Sally beauty suggested this brand. Since they don’t have many colors yet, I just got the black one, Alter Ego.
I stamped with china glaze emotion. I am hoping that since I used the proper base and topcoat for Seche Premier Colour, it will last at least a week!
The application was awesome. Two coats was completely opaque. It also dried very quickly!
Color Club Revvvolution over Zoya Lo
I saw the Vivid Lacquer stamping plates and had to get some!
This image is from VL 005. Its the famous Lorem ipsum quote block in really pretty font!
It seems like everytime I wear Zoya Lo, I love the color but really want to stamp a gray or black over it. Color Club Revvvolution is black holo that stamps nicely.
OPI – Stay The Night
I know I’ve been pretty non-existent lately! Its for a good reason, but a reason that makes me unable to swatch nail polish for a while… I will explain later. 🙂
For now, here is a swatch from a couple of months ago that I’ve been wanting to post.
OPI – Stay The Night
I loved it in the sun! In the shade it looked pretty gritty so I added a top coat and although it took away the sand look, I ended up liking it better. It stayed on for quite a while because it didn’t chip off!
I think I’d like anything that was black and pink?
Zoya – Kissy
I was bummed that the Orly After Party just looked plain black most of the time, so I added 2 layers of Kissy!
I had never tried this one, and I was *so* much more impressed with it than I ever thought I’d be. I thought the holo rectangular strips would end up being like little strands of tinsel on your nail, but it is actually like each strip is a brightly glowing rainbow!
It sounds ridiculous, but you’d have to see it. Especially since we’ve been replacing our lights in the house with LED lights, every time those would catch my nails, I’d be staring at the rainbows.
Pure Ice – Pardon My French (lemming!)
My story about looking everywhere for Pardon My French has such a happy ending! Pure Ice sent it to me themselves! I am so thankful to them, I hope they know it. 🙂
They saw my post somehow and answered the call, doesn’t that just make you love them even more? Generous and good to their customers beyond belief!
Anyway, I’ll get to the swatch! It was more than I even expected. I didn’t need a base color layer at all, and it wasn’t globby like a lot of other hex glitter polishes are. It is even a peach-ish color of brown, so it is really unique. So absolutely perfect!
♥
Orly – After Party
This one is black with different colors of sparkles. It isn’t really heavily glittered, like Butter London’s Black Knight, its more like a pigment type of sparkle, if that makes sense.
I found that in the shade or from far away, it just looks black. But in the light, I love the colors that they chose to flash… teal, cyan, pink, purple… all of the great girly colors!
The colors are more apparent in the bottle than on the nail:
I also took a blurry-on-purpose shot that kind of showed the colors a little better!
OPI – Germanicure
Okay, so fall colors are my absolute favorite… and I LOVE some of the new OPI fall polishes!
The first one I tried is this gorgeous, glowy, dark, rich red called Germanicure!
If I have a red like this, it certainly isn’t as glowing as this one. Its like one of those cars you can’t stop looking at because its dark but the paint is like glowing from underneath. That’s what it reminds me of!
Butter London – Black Knight
I found this at an Ulta! When I was at the check-out register, the girl was like “We just got the new shipment of this polish and we’re almost out already. That one is so pretty!” So then I felt like I got really lucky! 🙂
When I saw a lot of swatches of this, I thought I might not like it because it was too multi-colored. I thought the yellow and red glitter I caught in there would ruin the look for me, but it actually really looks like a black polish with pink and blue glitter!
On the nail, it actually looks the way I hoped it would, so this one definitely impressed me. I’m finding that my swatches are showing too many colors as well, so I guess you’d have to just try it for yourself to see what I’m talking about?
No more trips for a while I think… DC was so awesome, I took so many pictures!
Happy Valentine's Day! (And Elle's Spell over Black)
I am actually wearing China Glaze – Long Kiss right now because after my shower I want to do a nail foil! I got the red one with the O’s, and its my first time trying foils. All of the tutorials said that it doesn’t last long so I will have to do it on my lunch break or after work.
For now, here’s a swatch I took a week or so ago of Elle’s Spell over black. My regular well-lit swatch didn’t really show how pretty the red firey flakies are, so I had to go with a shadier swatch.
I never did get the Nfu Oh version of this, I had the blacker based one and didn’t like it as much, this redder-based mix is so awesome!
I also got Max Factor – Fantasy Fire! The Unicorn Pee dupe! My amazingly fun, generous, and awesome friend Jill in Europe just grabbed one for me while she was getting me a few of the essence Vampire Love polishes and surprised me with it! I can NOT wait to swatch that one. I might have to make a video like I’ve been wanting to do lately…
Oh, I said I’d post the new OPI and Zoya purples comparison though, didn’t I? Okay, that will come next. Unless I post my V Day foils first, then it’ll be right after that. 😉
Ozotic Pro 505 vs 506
These can be hard to tell apart because I found there is only one flash angle where they differ.
They look the same to me at most angles. Here is 506 on index and ring, 505 on middle and pinky (over black, of course!):
(Bottle is 505)
Here are the two in the bottle… 506 on top, 505 on the bottom:
But this is the reason why 505 is my favorite! I prefer the greenish blue flash in the 505 over the midnight blue flash in the 506.
I’m holding the 505 in this picture so you can really see that gorgeous teal-ish flash toward the top of the bottle and on my middle nail:
So it just depends on what shade of blue you prefer if you can’t decide between the two of these. 🙂
5 Pink Fine-Particle Holos Over Black Comparison
I did only one coat of each, in case you like really rich fine particles for stamping!
Also, I think finer particles have the biggest rainbow effect.
This is the order:
Thumb – Golden Rose 108, Index – Sally Hansen Prisms Pink Rose Diamond, Middle – s-he stylezone 427, Ring – Catherine Arley 666, Pinky – Nfu Oh 064
In this one you can really see how the Nfu Oh is the richest and has a huge rainbow effect!
Aside from loving the rainbow effect, I think my Golden Rose 108 is my prettiest darker shade of pink and the s-he 427 is the prettiest baby pink.
Kleancolor – Mud Pie Sparkle
A lot of people blogged about not really liking this one, but I love it! Its odd because its like a coffee brown metallic foily color with black hexagon glitter, but I think its just a really cool and unique polish that doesn’t strike me as ugly at all.
Look at this!
Anyone around that likes this one like I do? 🙂
And oh my god, we gave our deposit to a wedding venue, so its really coming together! I think our wedding date is going to be Cinco De Mayo! 😀
Add some blood to the lace…
I know I did blood spatters last year too, but I just love it… probably has to do with how much I love Dexter?
I used the 60 second Rimmell polish in Rapid Ruby and the Konad plates m13 and m21.
I have an awesome vampiress costume and no where to wear it… Halloween snuck up on me. I’ll probably watch scary movies with my fiance and eat chocolate though, which I can’t complain about of course. And his Mom gave us glow sticks. haha! I’ll be playing with those!
I’ll probably pick the giveaway winners tomorrow, so you still have all day to enter! 🙂

Lacey B&W French
I did this one yesterday before going out to meet my parents, fiance, and fiance’s family for dinner. I love how well we all get along and have fun…
I can’t believe I was able to just do a french tip on my own nails instead of having to put pink first… its because of the Illamasqua Base Coat, I swear! It has kept my nails from getting stained! Now that I’ve used it all month, the stained part has grown out to the end and my real nails look normal again. I love that base coat so very much, thank you Illamasqua!
I used Orly – White Tips, then stamped the fishnet design from the konad plate m79 and finally, the straight ribbon strip from a rectangular essence stampy plate, with Konad – Black Pearl.
One of my most favorite nail bloggers is having an OMG giveaway, you gotta go see it. She always does the coolest things with her nails too!

Nails for my New Orleans trip! :)
This took forever, but I love how it ended up! I wish it was sunnier so I could get a better picture, but here it is for now…
This is a layer of OPI – Black Onyx, a layer of Nicole by OPI – Nicole’s Nickel, a stripe of Black Onyx on the top corner with OPI – Sanguine on top of that black stripe, then the bow stamped with Konad white!
I also put the Shellac base coat first, then at the end I did the Shellac top coat and cured it 2x so that this will last… hopefully at least a week and a half or 2? 🙂
I love that Konad bow plate, I need to use it more often. It is m7.
(I’m adding a black with silver glitter nail art striping polish to the Halloween Giveaway, I thought it would be a good one to go with those!)
Essence – Love Peace and Purple
Another awesome taupe-purple with purple shimmer…
This one is a lot like Chanel Paradoxal! Since I already swapped that one, I put it next to Revlon Perplex:
I think that the base has a little more taupe to it than the Perplex, so I think I like it more.
Also, I MUST HAVE THIS! Its an NYC limited edition 2011 Halloween lip gloss called Blackula!
There is something about a black gloss… it just gives your lips a tint that is neutral and a couple of shades darker. I can’t do black lipstick or anything, but a black jelly gloss just looks SO awesome. I’m in love with my MAC Bling Black gloss and that Twilight lip gloss pot that came out in black… so I just have to have this.
If anyone sees it, please let me know… I’ll keep checking Rite Aid for it and hope to grab some!
China Glaze – QT… and I can't wait for their Halloween set!
First of all, here is QT, from the OMG collection! This is the only OMG polish I own, I love the color!
And look at their Halloween set that’ll be released in a few weeks!
I can’t wait for Crimson and the Ghoulish Glow, but I want the whole set… makes me think I’ll skip the OPI set with the green glow and black shatter since I like the white glow and black crackle better anyway.
