Sephora by OPI – Beauty Junkie

When I went to Sephora last week, I was admiring their new aisle they have that is just dedicated to nail polish! With the new fake-nail swatch of each color, I was able to see the polishes in a different way. They even have that for all of the other brands they carry now.

The one that caught my eye was Beauty Junkie! I picked it up and wondered how I had never noticed it before. So I bought it. 🙂

It is really cool because in different lights, it can look brown, burgundy, or really dark mauve! I swear sometimes in the sun, it has looked like a plum even. Its a nice and rich creme, so even though it is really dark, it can’t be mistaken for black… I love it!

My husband’s birthday was on Saturday. I took him to the Magic Castle in Hollywood! We had both wanted to go but had never been, and I was lucky enough to get an invite from a magician’s wife. 🙂

We got all dressed up and I wore this on my nails and toes…

OPI – Every Month is Oktoberfest!
It is so gorgeous! Just as sparkly as Germanicure, but more on the wine/burgundy side.

Actually, the shimmer is a really warm and sparkly red, but the base is so blue that it really makes the polish look more plum or burgundy on the nail. When you actually pull the brush out and see the base, its very blue.

These are the only two I got from the new Fall collection and I LOVE them both!

OPI – Germanicure

Okay, so fall colors are my absolute favorite… and I LOVE some of the new OPI fall polishes!

The first one I tried is this gorgeous, glowy, dark, rich red called Germanicure!

If I have a red like this, it certainly isn’t as glowing as this one. Its like one of those cars you can’t stop looking at because its dark but the paint is like glowing from underneath. That’s what it reminds me of!

Okay this was my first time using nail foils so I made a video! I didn’t get to edit/upload yet but I wanted to at least show the swatches for now.

Aren’t they neato? I think I love nail foils!

I started with China Glaze – Long Kiss, because it was a similar red to put underneath. (I hear you do that in case there are “bald spots”.)

It looked so similar to Heart of Africa to me, but when I looked really super closely, Long Kiss was more of a warm-toned shade and Heart of Africa was more of a wine-toned shade. Very similar though, see?

I even love the adhesive that comes with nail foils! When you layer it on, it looks so UV, like purple and blue and oil-slick-ish.

I got the foil and adhesive from dollarnailart.com. (Careful, its addicting!)

Have a Happy Valentine’s Day! I can’t wait to eat some chocolate cake. 🙂

China Glaze – Urban Night, Makeup Factory – 375, NARS – Tallulah

These 3 dark purples looked so similar to me in the bottle, so I wanted to do a comparison.

Here are China Glaze Urban Night (index and pinky), Makeup Factory 375 (middle), and NARS Tallulah (ring):

The Makeup Factory one got really dark but the NARS and the China Glaze look exactly alike!

I have so many dark teal polishes that I’ve built up a pile of lately, I wanted to put them all together so you can see the differences up close!

I tried to take them in sun, shade, at different angles…

I can’t tell you how much I LOVE these cute little bottles! This color is really interesting… its like a brown that kind of looks black from far away but with light on it, you see some plum or some burgundy that makes it look like a raspberry chocolate bar!

I’ve been spending a lot of time being crafty and making a lot of DIY wedding stuff! May 26th will be my big day and I have lots of time to make my own personalized invitations and save the date stuff… I love collages with pictures and pieces of magazine ads, so I’m doing that. It sounds odd but I’ll post pictures when I get enough done!

I’m SO lucky and found the perfect florist today. I know nothing about flowers really so I was intimidated but when I started talking to her and telling her I wanted a vintage/Victorian type of theme, she knew exactly what to point me to for my style and tight budget… and she lives right by the church we are getting married at!

This is the type of “theme” I’m going for!

I know this isn’t a wedding blog, but most of us are girly in here so I thought I’d share my inspiration for what I’m coming up with! 🙂

BB Couture – Tuxedo Night

Ahh, so sorry for not posting every day-ish lately. Work has been so crazy with my wrapping up the software I’ve been working on since the summer and I’ve been frustrated with having no free time to do these things!

I hope to be less busy in about 2 weeks when I wrap everything up and we leave and get back from our little New Orleans trip we are taking for fun before Halloween! (I LOVE New Orleans, its absolutely my favorite place on earth so far, and I can’t wait to go back!)

Anyways though, here is a super gorgeous fall color from BB Couture! It really has a lot of dimension to it from the glass flecks!

I want to find a little time to fix my comments functionality out so it isn’t so janky. Wish me luck on that one. I also wanted to make a cool iphone app related to nail polish, have any of you ever wished you had a nail polish-related app that did something specific?

BB Couture – Michael

I’m back from my vacation!

I have a swatch of BB Couture’s Michael. I think a lot of you might love this one, but it was too blue for me. If I wear blue its usually a super light blue or a dark teal color. I wish I could pull this one off since it is so full of different colored glitter inside!

About the trip, I took a not-too-far-away trip to see Monument Valley, Antelope Canyon, and I wanted to show Bryan the Grand Canyon since he has never been somehow, but I chose the wrong entry point and ended up just showing him the ugliest part of it. Argh… and the other entry points that are much more awesome to see were like 4 hours away even though if we could just cross the canyon it would have only been like 10 miles away. At least he can join the rest of us Californians that are from this planet and say he’s seen the Grand Canyon? haha!

In case you guys are dog lovers like me, I have to show you this cute toy I got for Cupid. It gives them treats and is supposed to entertain them in the process but it mostly entertained ME! (I’m wearing Sinful Colors – See You Soon.)

BB Couture – Hammer Drill

I don’t know what took me so long to get this one, its gorgeous!!

Its brown but a little on the red side, and really shimmery!

I’ve gotten into black teal colors lately and I’m doing a swatch wheel to compare them.

When I went to Rite Aid yesterday, they had a few new ones, so if you’re into that type of color, check your drug store. There’s Sally Hansen – Teal-y Fast, Wet N Wild – Teal of Fortune, Maybelline – Cool Couture, and on the same Maybelline display, there is this awesome one called Purple Trend that is actually like a dark burnt red with teal shimmer inside. I’ll post swatches of those soon!

BB Couture – Napa Valley Red

This is another one I thought I might not like when I saw it in the bottle and then was totally surprised again! BB Couture really makes unique polishes.

I guess in the bottle, this one seemed like it would be too bright red for me, but it ended up being a gorgeous dark jelly with brighter glints of red inside. Its gorgeous!

Essence – Love Peace and Purple

Another awesome taupe-purple with purple shimmer…

This one is a lot like Chanel Paradoxal! Since I already swapped that one, I put it next to Revlon Perplex:

I think that the base has a little more taupe to it than the Perplex, so I think I like it more.

Also, I MUST HAVE THIS! Its an NYC limited edition 2011 Halloween lip gloss called Blackula!

There is something about a black gloss… it just gives your lips a tint that is neutral and a couple of shades darker. I can’t do black lipstick or anything, but a black jelly gloss just looks SO awesome. I’m in love with my MAC Bling Black gloss and that Twilight lip gloss pot that came out in black… so I just have to have this.

If anyone sees it, please let me know… I’ll keep checking Rite Aid for it and hope to grab some!

China Glaze – QT… and I can't wait for their Halloween set!

First of all, here is QT, from the OMG collection! This is the only OMG polish I own, I love the color!

And look at their Halloween set that’ll be released in a few weeks!

I can’t wait for Crimson and the Ghoulish Glow, but I want the whole set… makes me think I’ll skip the OPI set with the green glow and black shatter since I like the white glow and black crackle better anyway.
