Christmasy Swatches

After going through all of my posts to update links for my new server, I kept my favorite Christmasy swatches aside to put in one entry. 🙂

I might as well try the cool WordPress “Gallery in a post” feature!

Dollish Polish – Cold Winds Are Rising

This is from one of the awesome franken designers on etsy. I couldn’t pass up a grayish blue jelly with pretty blue and silver sparkles in it!

There are also some larger hex glitters in a really pretty darker blue that really stand out when they land on your nail among the other smaller blue and silver particles.

I put it over Color Club – Take Me To Your Chateau this time. I actually saw myself in the mirror after and thought it was too smurfy blue with that underneath. Next time I’ll try putting it over a white and a light gray. I’ll swatch it again when I do!

Here is the base color so you can see how it made it so blue instead of more of the grayish color like the polish is…

I know, my nails are SO short right now… so much envelope-making and other wedding crafts have torn up my nails lately!

Nerd Lacquer – Nebula

Let’s not discuss how much I paid for this one on ebay and get right to the swatch, shall we? 🙂

This is such a gorgeous burgundy jelly full of different sized holo particles! It isn’t really chunky either, it lays flat and looks amazing!

This is only one coat! I was half in a hurry and half wanted the jelly effect, so I left it at one. And it is lasting forever, this one hardy coat!

I’ve had it on for a few days now and got a lot of compliments.

What do you do by the way when someone says, “Wow, I love your nail polish, what is that one?” and you know they haven’t heard of Nerd Lacquer, and also know they probably wouldn’t pay over 10 or 12 bucks for a polish?

I get stuck in these exchanges pretty often… this was my latest at David’s Bridal:

Cashier: Wow, I love your nail polish, what is that one?
Me: Oh its called Nebula… its by this little brand called Nerd Lacquer?
Cashier: Nerd Lacquer? I haven’t heard of that one, where did you get it?
Me: Well *I* got it on ebay, because it was sold out everywhere else, but you can get it online.
Cashier: I could look on ebay for it, how much was it?
Me: Umm… *shameful blush* I think I paid about 24 dollars, but they just get bid up like that when they are sold out everywhere else.

haha!

China Glaze Crystal Ball over You Move Me

When I was going to visit family, I thought the brown tone looked weird with my gray shirt, so I grabbed my trusty Crystal Ball and layered it on top.

Whenever something looks a little weird, I put Crystal Ball on it, and it becomes amazing! haha

RGB – Crimson with Snowflakes!

Merry Christmas!! 🙂

Here is RGB – Crimson with snowflakes stamped in Konad white. The plates were m59 and T37.

I hate these awkward ones where I try to get my thumb in too. haha!

The polish is such a dream! Its the perfect dark red that still looks really red and its a jelly!!

BB Couture – Napa Valley Red

This is another one I thought I might not like when I saw it in the bottle and then was totally surprised again! BB Couture really makes unique polishes.

I guess in the bottle, this one seemed like it would be too bright red for me, but it ended up being a gorgeous dark jelly with brighter glints of red inside. Its gorgeous!

You never know with these BB Coutures, until you wear them!

Oh, and don’t forget… last day to enter the Tuff Scent giveaway! 🙂

China Glaze Crystal Ball over Nubar Avant Garde

Instead of putting a clear coat on top of yesterday’s Avant Garde, I found my favorite jelly with holo glitter to put over it instead… Crystal Ball!

I love putting it over other dark colors, it just gives it a raspberry tint with the sparkly holo particles. 🙂

I am so excited because I just ordered polishes from the China Glaze Metro Collection finally! I got Street Chic, Brownstone, Midtown Magic, Concrete Catwalk, Urban Night, and Loft-y Ambitions.

Then BB Couture has new Eye Candy polishes out and I caved and got Scorching Strawberry and Playboy from Overall Beauty‘s shop.

From Zoya’s Smoke & Mirrors, I got Petra, Neeka and Jem!

Wow, whatever extra money I got from my trip just went bye bye that fast. I linked to where to buy them if you want some too. 🙂

When the OPI Touring Collection is out online (or if it already is, let me know where!) I’m going to get Color to Diner For, My Address is Hollywood, and then I have to get French Quarter for your Thoughts because of the name, I just have to! (I think I want the Hollywood one, but I hear it is the same as Essie Your Hut or Mine but not as easy to apply, so maybe that one’s out?)

Zoya – Maya, Paige, Penelope, & Joy

Here is another Zoya comparison swatch of some more I got from the Earth Day promo! I think I have a couple more left after this still!

Maya is very jelly! This was 4 coats. It is a nice coral hot pink that isn’t too neon!

2 coats for the rest of the 3…
Paige is a dark mauve purple, I actually love this one and it is the only one of these 4 that I’m keeping.

Penelope is a light rose mauve, and it is just a little too light for me.

Joy is the bottle that I’m holding. It has a really warm shimmer to it, its very pretty! I think it was just too light for me as a purple-ish color?

OPI – So Many Clowns… So Little Time & Step Right Up

I had to do a side by side swatch for these because they were so similar! If you put them side by side, you can see that So Many Clowns is a warmer-toned eggshell white and Step Right Up is a very light pink.

Both go on like sheer jelly polishes, so I wanted to show you what it looked like with 2 coats and what it looked like with 5 coats.

From Left to Right, So Many Clowns 5 coats, So Many Clowns 2 coats, Step Right Up 2 coats, and Step Right Up 5 coats:

I will probably only keep Step Right Up because if I’m going to wear a sheer jelly white, I’d rather it be pink toned because the warmth of the So Many Clowns kind of enhances the little bit of yellow stain I have from wearing dark polishes a lot of the time.

I Juggle Men was my favorite from this Femme De Cirque collection though, which do you like the best? 🙂

I made Easter cupcakes with the Peeps! I’ll post a picture tomorrow with my comparison of my newest pastel blues!

OPI – Dutch Tulips

I grabbed this one for my Spring Giveaway and had to swatch it really quickly! It is a really pretty pink red that is like a half jelly.. you know those that are jelly-ish but opaque in 3 coats still, if you prefer to wear it that way?

I finally took the Zoya – Kate off last night, but before doing that, I wore it all day stamped with Sally Hansen Insta Dri – Mauve It! It was pretty cute! I used my new Chez Delaney XL stamping plate B.

Deborah Lippmann – Razzle Dazzle

Okay, this is the last Lippmann polish I had to get. (I think!) I’m so glad I did, I LOVE it! It applies a lot easier than the other larger glitters, and the base color matches the glitter too so after 2 coats, it is nice and even!

Deborah Lippmann – Razzle Dazzle

It does kind of dry a tiny bit gritty though.

China Glaze – Stroll

It took me so long to finally try this one because I always thought it was going to be so dark that it looked black… and then I’d see those gold glass flecks in the bottle, which didn’t help.

Its actually so gorgeous on the nail though! It looks like a dark berry, and the gold glass flecks are underneath the dark jelly base, so they don’t look gold at all, they just really catch the light.

I’m really glad I tried it, now it’ll be one of my favorites. 🙂

Chanel – Cosmic Violine

I wanted this one soooo badly for so long, and everytime I’d try to swap it, I wouldn’t have something someone wanted… until someone really nice wanted Riva! It was hard to give the Riva up, but since I have my Hard Candy Sky, I figured it was worth finally getting my Cosmic Violine for! I hope she loves Riva, because I REALLY love Cosmic Violine!

So many times I’ve wanted something, and when it gets here, it isn’t as amazingly awesome as I thought… but THIS one did not disappoint one bit!

It is the perfect dark burgundy, reddish, brownish toned jelly color (kinda like the Dolce & Gabbana Soft was, like Dr Pepper!), but this has a lot of bright pink/red glitter inside that really shines a lot in the sun!

I feel like I got horrible swatches that don’t show this polish off enough, but here we go…

Lamp light…

Natural light
(It was raining a lot so I didn’t get full sun.)

Like it?
I hope you don’t like it as much as I do because its really hard to find!! haha!
