4 Browns Swatched – With OPI Shim-merry Chic

Its so hard to wait for these 2 broken nails to grow… I want to get swatching again!

So I’ll just apologize for the first 2 screwed up nails and post anyway.

Here is (from pointer to pinky) LA Colors – Chocolate Shimmer, OPI – Amarillo Almondine, Essie – Armed and Ready, and the pinky and bottle are OPI – Shim-merry Chic:

Shim-merry Chic came out a while ago with Merry Midnight. It has flakies that are a goldish-green, a blueish-purple, and the rest is mostly a neutral brown color.

Armed and Ready ended up looking very dark gray. When you can catch the shimmer, you see the gold flash, but it is a very hidden shimmer.

I love Chocolate Shimmer, so that’s a keeper for sure. Amarillo Almondine might be a little too light for my taste!

OPI – World Is Not Enough over Misa – Lost To The World

In my last post I showed you the taupe Lost To The World. I got World is Not Enough in the mail and had to wear it right away!

I noticed that it was a little sheer with one coat when I swatched it on a nail wheel, so I put it over the taupe and it was perfect!

I wore it for 5 or 6 days and I couldn’t stop staring at it. I love how most of the sparkles are pink!

At some angles, when the pink isn’t showing, it still has a nice taupe metallic tone to it instead of a green or yellow.

Definitely a keeper. 🙂

Misa – Lost To The World

I really found this taupe shade to be pretty perfect. It isn’t as dark as OPI – YDKJ or Essie – Mink Muffs.

Then it gets even more perfect when you see the flash of hidden shimmer!

The shimmer isn’t always noticeable, unfortunately. But since I loved the shade of taupe that it is, I didn’t mind. 🙂

New Bundle Monster! Butter London – Toff with Flormar – 389

I was so excited to get my new Bundle Monster plates from Amazon! I went to a wedding over the weekend and wanted to try out one of the new designs.

The two plates I tested really worked well! The designs were really etched in deep and they were large enough to even cover my thumb with a lot left over!

Butter London – Toff with Flormar – 389 stamped over, using the new Bundle Monster Plate – BM 314

I reallllly wish their new plates came with a coffee cup design. I thought they said they would with the next set but maybe I’ll have to keep waiting. If you want to see the designs that they did use, check this out:

BB Couture – Lazy Bum

I LOVE this polish!

I thought it was going to be too light of a taupe but it dried to the perfect medium brown taupe. And it has tons of complexity actually. Lots of silver glitter, brownish sparkle… there’s nothing like this one for sure!

Don’t be thrown off by the name and the dirty color, its gorgeous!

China Glaze – Foie Gras

I still can’t get enough of these creme polishes that are this rich color that looks taupe sometimes, plummy at other times, kind of greyish…

They always surprise me! I have to compare this to Below Deck, of course. It has a similar mix of shades but this one is more brown.

I also have to rave about the formula. It is so opaque that two coats is perfect and it didn’t dry too fast and become gloppy like some other brands I have polishes like this in. It will dry a tiny bit darker than the color you see in the bottle.

Speaking of that though, if you notice a little bit of bubbliness to this swatch, it isn’t the polish’s fault this time, I just overdid it on the Mavala Barrier Base + Sally Hansen Nail Quencher layers beneath it since my nails had gotten dry.

With the next post, its giveaway time again! 🙂

OPI Holland Collection Swatches – Gouda Gouda Two Shoes, Wooden Shoe Like To Know, Dutch Ya Just Love OPI, and Vampsterdam

I was dying to try these out, mainly for Wooden Shoe Like To Know. I don’t really have a brown like this that glows with shimmer! I’m so excited about it, I’m going to wear it on my business trip this week. (I’m going to Colorado Springs for a meeting, and it is going to be freeeeeezing.)

I also got tired of having to file my nails every 5 days because they’re growing so fast from my supplements, so I filed them way down! I figured at least this will last more than a week this time.

Anyway, here are 4 of the new Holland Collection swatches!

Sorry about the way my window screen left some weird grid shadow… I just wanted to get the swatches up ASAP.

Here they are in the shade, so you can make sure that even when the shimmery glow isn’t shining through, you still like them!

As you can see, the Gouda Gouda Two Shoes looks horrible on me in general lighting, ick.

Vampsterdam is the only one of these that isn’t a cream with inner glow. Its more of a frost, with really silver highlights all through the dark eggplant color. I love this one as well.

I find the Dutch Ya Just Love OPI to be too purple on me, exactly like Zoya Tru, so I’ll post the comparison of those two next… they are exactly the same.

So I put the two purples up on my MUA swap list and I’m going to try and franken the Gouda Gouda Two Shoes since I do love the glow but hate how the tone isn’t dark or light enough. I’ll probably add a sheer dark brown!

China Glaze Magnetix – You Move Me

I think this is the first time where I got a package with nail polish and sat down immediately to do a mani so I could wear it *right now*!

I have other magnetic polishes but the fact that its a China Glaze just made me so excited! And of course, I had to get You Move Me, to add to my other 20 something browns. 🙂

When I first saw it, I was like awww, its a light goldish brown with silver glittery wisps to it, and I only like dark browns… but after the magnet did its magic, the parts around the shape got really really dark brown, so its so perfect!!

I used the star magnet obviously, but look at how the magnet comes! 3 designs in one magnet.

While I was doing this, I accidentally used the stripes part of the U shape on accident and re-did that one, but the stripes were amaaaaazingly sharp! If you used a red with the stripes, you’d have perfect candy cane nails that easily.

I did each nail one at a time because the magnet really pulls on the right parts when the polish is still really wet. I noticed a thicker wet coat makes a sharper star too. When I put my top coat on, I kind of dragged a little too much on my middle nail there, but the lines it leaves that are the lighter color are so gorgeous to look at, almost like its 3D and changes at different angles. And it isn’t bronzey at all, its dark brown and light latte brown. Ahh, I love this stuff. I also got Instant Chemistry so I’ll swatch that soon too.

I definitely recommend these, you have to try at least one to see how pretty it looks in real life when you move it around in different lighting.

French Tip Dip – Magic

I’m surprised more people don’t go crazy over this one… its so gorgeous!

magic

The bottle doesn’t have a name on it, but on their site, its the one called Magic.

In the bottle, it has these red reflects, but I don’t see the red on the nail, it is more taupe. I love this stuff. 🙂

No one told me that you can be going all smoothly with wedding planning and one day some of your in-laws just go crazy on you… after I started telling some friends about it, they all seemed to have a similar story as if its so common! Whew, I can’t wait to get to the day now. haha!

Tuff Scent – Wish

This is the last Tuff Scent polish from my order. Its not really my thing, but its pretty in the bottle? I put it over Tuff Scent – Inner Strength.

The scent is Pear, which I thought I would hate, but it smells nice!

What do you think? On the nails its a little more yellowy and a lot less pink than it seems in the bottle… must be the angle!

Don’t forget my Tuff Scent Giveaway! You can enter here!

Tuff Scent – Inner Strength

Ahhhhh I love this brand! I must gush for a minute… they have gorgeous bottles, awesome polish, they smell SO good, they sell their polish on their site, they ship fast, they wrap every bottle with more bubble wrap than I’ve ever seen used, and their representatives (Sylvie was the one I talked to a few times) are so SO generous and concerned with how happy you are.

You can buy them here -> http://tuffscent.com/

My next post will actually be a giveaway post for some of these. I wanted to do 3 bottles but have 2 winners (top prize is 2, next prize is 1), so I can show at least 2 of you how cool these are!

Okay onto my favorite one from my first order… Inner Strength! The scent is Almond and it has a perfect sweet almond oil smell like that CND Solar Oil has, only more cookie-like if that makes sense. I wish they made a perfume like this, I’d wear it every day. YUM.

I love dark taupe polishes and this one is unique compared to my others because its glossy! It has a jelly-ish look with one coat but not thick enough to be a jelly… then after another coat its just a nice glossy finish that I don’t have with my other taupes.

More swatches to come, but its time to go make my giveaway post. 😀

Essence – Cut Off the Beige

This is the last one I have from the You Rock! Collection, it was the only one that was kind of blah to me, mainly because I have never been into “nude” polishes, so anything taupe-ish has to be dark for me to like it.

cutoffthebeige.jpg

It is nice and shimmery though! I put it up for swap and it went lightning fast, so I know others like it!

I’ll be posting my TuffScent.com giveaway soon! Not only do they smell so heavenly, but they are gorgeous and the people who run that place are so incredibly generous and nice!

Essence – Love Peace and Purple

Another awesome taupe-purple with purple shimmer…
peacelovepurple.jpg

This one is a lot like Chanel Paradoxal! Since I already swapped that one, I put it next to Revlon Perplex:

I think that the base has a little more taupe to it than the Perplex, so I think I like it more.

Also, I MUST HAVE THIS! Its an NYC limited edition 2011 Halloween lip gloss called Blackula!

There is something about a black gloss… it just gives your lips a tint that is neutral and a couple of shades darker. I can’t do black lipstick or anything, but a black jelly gloss just looks SO awesome. I’m in love with my MAC Bling Black gloss and that Twilight lip gloss pot that came out in black… so I just have to have this.

If anyone sees it, please let me know… I’ll keep checking Rite Aid for it and hope to grab some!

BB Couture – Adam

This is one of the most interesting polishes I own.

It looks like a dark taupe army green, but it has red shimmer inside!!

Check this out, I’ve never seen a polish like this!

How cool is that? 🙂

My new job has been awesome… Since I started, I have been working on this software, and they are flying me out to Maryland/DC next week to demo it!

Golden Rose – 103

This one is described as “soft pink” on their site but to me it looks more like a cafe latte! 🙂

It has a pretty strong holo effect, it was just hard to pick up on camera. Someone sent me a tiny decant of an Nfu Oh Aqua Base Coat so I keep hearing my holo polish experience is about to get a lot better! I can’t wait to try it.

Oh and their web site is back up if you’d like to buy some! They are on sale too, for $3.49. They have a lot of other polishes as well as a larger grained holo set here.

I’ll be picking the winner for my Holographic Giveaway tonight so you have 10 more hours to enter. 🙂

China Glaze – Hyper Haute and some Golden Rose Holos

I had to try the Golden Rose Holographics, so I compared 3 of them here to a Tronica polish, Hyper Haute. Golden Rose polishes have a stronger holo effect than the Tronica set (but not the OMG set), and they come in a lot of colors. AND they are so cheap and easy to buy online.

(Ooops, I just realized their site says they’ve exceeded their monthly bandwith! haha! I’m sure it’ll be fine tomorrow again, on the 1st. Its http://www.goldenroseusa.com if you’re in the US.)

Here I have China Glaze – Hyper Haute, then Golden Rose 108, 110, and 112:

I LOVE 108, its such a great color!!!

I also have Golden Rose 103, I’ll post that one tomorrow!

I had a great birthday, thanks so much for all of the birthday wishes here and on facebook and twitter! 🙂 You guys are some of the nicest people ever and I’m so glad I got to come across you because of our nail polish obsession!!

(My fiance bought me a Nintendo 3DS! Yay!)

China Glaze – Golden Brown to Golden Mauve – Mood Changing

This polish is pretty interesting… doesn’t it look like glass with the shimmer coming from the inside?

I did get it in hopes to see some interesting “mood” or temperature changing color, but I couldn’t get it to do much. The only mood changing polish I’ve seen that actually changes has been the Claire’s version. This line from China Glaze is called “In the MOOD” and they had quite a few different ones.

I still love this polish though, I think I’ll put it over something darker and see what that does!
