Here are my favorites that came out in 2011!

1. Dolce & Gabbana – Soft

One of the prettiest polishes I have!

2. China Glaze – Below Deck

I can NOT get over this one still. Blueberry chocolate. Its so awesome.

3. OPI – Pepe’s Purple Passion

I got so many compliments on this one, everyone kept saying they don’t have a color like it!

4. Tuff Scent – Hope

So pretty and these smell really good. 🙂

5. Hello Kitty – Mint (Sephora)
mnti
Who could resist these cute little bottles anyway!?

My favorite picture posted this year has to be this one, I was so excited to see my nails matched my coffee mug. 🙂

Happy New Year! 🙂

Anna Sui Polishes

I really only bought these because I had to have the bottles… aren’t those so precious!?

Then I was surprised by the polish! I didn’t know this was one of the features but it smells like roses!!! It smells so good!

This one is called Snow (or 013). It is a sheer, shimmery white with some flashes of red and I think I notice a little flash of blue too?

Even the top of the bottle looks like a rose!

This is the 2nd one I got. It is called Sky (or 107). It is blue with glitter and large square chunks of silver glitter too!

You can get these online at Urban Outfitters or of course you can search on ebay or for a swap!

Water marble!

I made a second attempt at making you guys a tutorial video!

This time, the camera was much better… I’m not sure the educational part was as good since it was my first time water marbling, but hopefully you’ll learn something, even if its how not to? 🙂

The first try was not a success, so I learned something myself… but my second time came out pretty cool! Next time I should be able to do it for a real manicure.

(The polishes I use here are hard candy sky, entity brown plum, color club vintage couture, eyeko pastel, zoya shimmer, and maybelline pink halo.)

Lots of light blues! (Part 1)

The color I’m picking for my wedding is light blue, so I’ve been looking at light blue invitations, flowers, well… everything, of course. My step-sister’s wedding was Tiffany’s blue, and my future sister-in-law’s wedding was periwinkle blue. I’m sure they know how it goes when you know you want light blue but you have to pick the exact light blue you want!

Anyway, although I’m not sure I’ll have any of these on my nails on my actual wedding day, it had me really wanting to compare all of my light blue polishes! (I’m excluding Chanel Riva since I no longer have it and already swatched it in here.) So here we go! 🙂

Don’t those look so pretty all laid out like that?

I’ll start with the two that are my least favorite just because they look too smurfy blue to me.

Color Club – Blue Light

petites – creme blue

I was able to place the rest in 2 shade categories… baby blue and baby green blue.

Here are the baby blues!

Sephora by OPI – Havana Dreams
This one is a really pretty shade of baby blue. It is a creme and it doesn’t have any dinginess to it.

Nubar – Baby Blue
This is a really opaque and chalky creme baby blue. Unlike the others, you can probably get away with 2 coats on this one. It almost looks like acrylic paint as you’re putting it on the nail!

Hard Candy – Sky
This is my second most favorite nail polish ever, I could just go on about it forever! haha

Look at that shimmer that comes out, it is just the prettiest thing!

Essie – St Barths Blue
I’m not big on this one. It is really sheer and probably takes about 6 coats to be opaque. It is a shimmery grey-ish blue.

OPI – I Vant to be A-Lone Star
Although this one is a little too grey for me, it is actually really pretty. Its nice and shimmery and applies a lot better than the Essie St Barths Blue. I’d like to compare this to China Glaze Sea Spray, but I don’t have that one yet!

Whew, that’s already a lot for one post, I’ll continue on the next post with the baby greenish blues!

To be continued…

Chanel – Riva

Okay, I wanted to give you guys the full report on this one, since we all know the color is so pretty but we keep hearing the formula isn’t very easy to apply.

After finding Hard Candy – Sky a few weeks ago and falling so in love with it, I HAD to try Riva because I heard it was a dupe for Riva.

I didn’t find the application that troublesome really, it just takes a few coats.

Not really wearable after the 2nd coat. Most of my polishes are good to go after 2 coats, so I guess it isn’t that good to know it takes more, but I was happy after a 3rd coat that I made sure to lay on thick.

Since 3 coats made it kind of soft, I used Seche Vite… I can’t say enough how much you can trust that stuff to leave a hard plastic shell on your polish and not let you get dents, dings, lines, etc.

Here is my final Riva swatch:

I hate how the inside lighting makes my hands look so red and yellow, ick. I’ll have to figure out a better way to snap swatches for my blog!

Anyway, here was my outside sunlight shot of it:

Now, I have to give this Riva report a sad ending. 😦
Before removing it, I wanted to paint Hard Candy – Sky on one nail and see what I thought. (Sorry, my skin looks awful in this one! Blogs are so honest. haha!)

I like Sky better! And now I love it so much more, after comparing it. Hard Candy – Sky is a little bit lighter and looks more like a milky light blue glass that shows off the shimmer inside a little bit better. The Riva was so soft too that the Seche Vite realllly caused shrinkage and pulled it back.

You’d have to try for yourself I guess!

Hard Candy Konad

With all of the Riva hype, I had to get the dupe! I actually have not worn blue nail polish in years but I love this color!!

Since I’m not used to seeing it on myself, I figured a konad in brown would help me ease into the baby blue.

The image plate is a bundle monster plate and I used my new Revlon Expresso since I love the brown color with the silver micro glitter it has!

Should I get the Chanel Riva afterall? I think now I just have to.
